The GoodWe STS200-80-10 is a static transfer system designed to provide a reliable backup power supply in energy storage installations. It works together with compatible GoodWe hybrid inverters to manage the transition between grid-connected operation and backup mode when a power outage occurs.
With a rated apparent power of 50 kilovolt-amperes, three-phase 380 or 400 volt voltage, and a switching time of less than 10 milliseconds, the STS helps keep backup loads powered by the energy available from solar panels and batteries. It also supports generator integration and is ready to handle high-power loads such as heat pumps and motors.
The STS, or static transfer system, acts as the switching element between the electrical grid, the hybrid inverter, the backup loads and, when part of the installation, a generator.
When the grid is operating normally, the system allows operation in grid-connected mode. If a power outage occurs, the inverter switches to backup mode and maintains supply to critical loads using the energy available in the photovoltaic system or batteries.
When grid power returns, the system allows the inverter to resynchronize and resume grid-connected operation.
One of the main features of the GoodWe STS200-80-10 is its switching time of less than 10 milliseconds. This fast transfer is designed to minimize interruption between grid-connected operation and backup mode.
This feature is especially important in commercial installations and other applications where continuity of supply to essential loads is required.
GoodWe's current EMEA documentation specifies compatibility of the STS200-80-10 with GoodWe ET40/50 hybrid inverters.
Communication between the STS and the inverter is carried out via RS485, allowing connection, disconnection and transition operations between the different operating modes to be coordinated.
The connection to the inverter is designed for a rated apparent power of 50 kilovolt-amperes. Under normal grid-connected conditions, the grid side also has a rated apparent power of 50 kilovolt-amperes.
At a nominal voltage of 400 volts, the rated current is 72.5 amperes. When the nominal output voltage is 380 volts, the rated current indicated by GoodWe is 75.8 amperes.
At the output intended for backup loads, the STS provides a rated apparent power of 50 kilovolt-amperes.
When the installation operates off-grid, the maximum backup apparent power can reach 55 kilovolt-amperes, providing additional capacity to support certain load conditions.
When grid supply is available, the backup interface supports a maximum apparent power of up to 138 kilovolt-amperes.
GoodWe also specifies a maximum input power at the grid port of 138 kilowatts for energy purchased from the grid. The maximum consumption current on the grid and backup side can reach 200 amperes within the conditions specified by the manufacturer.
The GoodWe STS200-80-10 is designed to manage high-power loads within the electrical limits established for the equipment.
GoodWe explicitly highlights its use with loads such as heat pumps and high-power motors, expanding the possible uses of the storage system in commercial installations and applications with demanding consumption.
In addition to working with the electrical grid and the hybrid inverter, the STS has an interface ready for the integration of a generator or a compatible photovoltaic inverter.
This option makes it possible to design energy systems with an additional generation source to increase the flexibility and energy availability of the installation.
The connection intended for the generator or photovoltaic inverter has a rated apparent power of 50 kilovolt-amperes and a maximum apparent power of 55 kilovolt-amperes.
The rated current is 72.5 amperes at 400 volts. GoodWe specifies a generator-side relay rated current of 90 amperes.
The STS200-80-10 is designed for three-phase systems with a nominal output voltage of 380 or 400 volts and 3L/N/PE configuration.
The nominal frequency can be 50 or 60 hertz, with an accepted frequency range between 45 and 65 hertz.
The technical documentation also establishes an output voltage range of 176 to 276 volts according to the conditions indicated by GoodWe.
The system incorporates an AC relay with a rated current of 200 amperes. This capacity makes it possible to manage the high currents that can occur at the grid and backup interface when the installation operates connected to the electrical supply.
On the generator side, the relay has a rated current of 90 amperes.
The GoodWe STS200-80-10 has an IP65 protection rating, providing protection against dust and water ingress within the conditions established for this classification.
Its construction allows it to be used in different installation environments as long as the location, mounting, ventilation and protection requirements indicated by GoodWe are respected.
The STS can operate at ambient temperatures between -35 and 60 degrees Celsius, allowing use across a wide range of environmental conditions.
The maximum operating altitude specified by GoodWe is 4,000 meters.
The system uses natural convection cooling, so it does not rely on fans for normal cooling.
This configuration reduces the number of moving mechanical parts and allows passive operation of the cooling system.
The GoodWe STS200-80-10 is designed for wall installation. It has dimensions of 510 millimeters in width, 425 millimeters in height and 156 millimeters in depth.
Its weight is approximately 16.5 kilograms, so the mounting surface and fixing elements used during installation must be suitable to support the equipment safely.
Despite handling grid currents of up to 200 amperes and high backup power levels, the STS has a compact format that makes it easy to integrate alongside the inverter and the rest of the energy storage installation components.
Installation must be carried out in accordance with the clearances, orientations and installation requirements defined in the manufacturer's manual.
Communication between the static transfer system and the compatible GoodWe inverter is carried out via RS485.
This communication makes it possible to coordinate inverter operation with grid status, backup output and the other energy sources connected to the system.
The STS is especially suited to commercial energy storage systems and other three-phase installations where backup power is required.
Possible applications include:
The GoodWe STS200-80-10 integrates the electrical grid, hybrid inverter, backup loads and generator into a solution designed to maintain energy supply continuity when a grid failure occurs.
Its switching time of less than 10 milliseconds, 50 kilovolt-amperes rated power, capacity of up to 55 kilovolt-amperes off-grid and up to 138 kilovolt-amperes with grid available, together with compatibility with GoodWe ET40/50 inverters, make it a key component for three-phase storage systems that need reliable backup power management.
